The season

Eight months of hats is a lot of hat

The Pacific Northwest scalp calendar is real: beanies from October, rain hoods through spring, indoor heat drying out the crown all winter — then one warm week in May when the hat comes off and you remember what your hair actually looks like. Our winters don't do cold so much as they do damp, but the hat stays on either way, and most home routines never quite catch up with what a season leaves behind.

A scalp treatment is the catch-up. The Deep Clean Scalp Head Spa at Soul Massage Head Spa in Lynnwood puts 90 minutes into exactly that backlog — $135 in cash, $145 by card, since every figure on this page is the cash rate — with a Milbon detoxifying exfoliation and a dedicated deep-clean pass doing the clearing, then steam and a customized hair treatment doing the restoring. It's built as a reset, and a season change is the natural time to book one.

Signs the hat season won:

And the standing caveat, said plainly: this is a wellness ritual, not a treatment. A scalp that stays flaky, irritated, or painful across seasons belongs with a dermatologist — come to us for the reset, not for anything persistent.

  • Your beanie has been on more days than off since October
  • Roots feel coated even right after washing
  • Static, flatness, and that faint indoor-heating dryness at the crown
  • Dry shampoo quietly became a daily habit sometime in January
  • You can't remember a wash that felt like it actually cleared everything

The ritual

What a reset actually includes

Reclined at a basin in a private treatment room — no shared floor, no curtain between you and a stranger — with water temperature and pressure set to your preference, the ritual runs: a head-neck-shoulder-arm-hand massage, the two clearing passes, the Milbon purifying cleanse, a hair treatment customized to what winter did to your lengths, warm hydrotherapy, hair steam, and a finishing Dyson blow-dry with Moroccan oil. Ninety minutes. No phone, no hat. Arrive about 10 minutes early the first time — the pressure-and-temperature consult happens before the clock starts, and late arrivals shorten the ritual, since the next guest's start time doesn't move.

The middle of that sequence is where the season leaves. The exfoliation and deep-clean stages are designed to deep-cleanse what settled at the roots; the steam and treatment stages put back what dry indoor air took. And the massage bookend isn't decoration — the slow-down it produces is the territory NCCIH's stress resources and Mayo Clinic's relaxation overview map when they describe what deliberate rest does. Guests tell us the last half hour is the quietest they've been all winter.

The blow-dry that ends the session is a finish, not styling — no curling, no shaping — but you leave dry, brushed, and smelling faintly of Moroccan oil rather than of February. The full four-ritual lineup — including the 60-minute, $78 Signature that holds a reset between deep cleans — lives on the head spa hub.

Past chest length? The Luxury is the right call

A note on hair length: if yours falls past chest level and runs thick, the menu's standing advice is the Luxury ritual instead — dense hair needs the extra deep-cleanse and moisturize time, and the Luxury's 90 minutes are structured for exactly that, at the same $135 cash.

The calendar

A year of scalp care, scheduled

How the four rituals map onto an actual year — same cash prices at every Soul studio, $10 more by card:

The cadence question — monthly, seasonal, or somewhere between — gets a longer answer in our how-often guide. The short version: 3 to 4 weeks between sessions is the recommendation, and a twice-a-year Deep Clean with Signatures in between is the lightest schedule that still feels like maintenance rather than rescue. If twice a year is all you'll book, make both count: the 90-minute Deep Clean each time, $270 cash total for the two most thorough hours your scalp gets all year.

How Lynnwood guests schedule the four Soul rituals across a year
RitualTimeCashWhen it fits
Deep Clean Scalp90 min$135Season changes — post-winter, end of summer
Signature60 min$78The monthly hold between deep cleans
Chinese Herb90 min$135When you want the herbal-tea rinse and steam
Luxury90 min$135Hair past chest length, or the 30-min massage opener

The Chinese Herb variant, briefly

The one ritual the table undersells is the Chinese Herb Head Spa. Same 90 minutes and $135 cash as the Deep Clean, but the water changes: the hydrotherapy rinse runs with herbal tea, brewed to help carry waste off the scalp, and the massage shifts to head, arms, and hands. It keeps the hair steam, the Milbon exfoliation, the scalp deep clean, and the finishing blow-dry. Guests who have done both tend to alternate — Deep Clean for the heavy resets, Chinese Herb for the seasons in between.

The studio

The newest Soul studio — same menu, same prices

Lynnwood is the fourth and newest Soul Massage Head Spa, at 3105 Alderwood Mall Blvd #112, with the same women-owned, founded-2021 family behind it as the Mill Creek original. The menu is identical to the other three studios down to the dollar — nothing costs more here for being newer. Geographically it completes the map: Mill Creek, Everett, and Lynnwood cover Snohomish County from three sides, with Kirkland across the lake, and this is the studio for the southwest corner — closest to Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, and Shoreline.

One operational difference worth knowing: Lynnwood books through Fresha rather than Setmore. The booking buttons on this page already point to the right place, or call or text (425) 866-1858 with the service, party size, and time you want. Hours run 10 AM to 9 PM daily — the earliest close in the family — so a full 90-minute ritual needs a start by about 7:30 PM. Details and photos live on the Lynnwood studio page.

Gift it

The reset travels well as a gift

A seasonal scalp reset makes an unusually good gift — specific enough to feel chosen, and priced where a meaningful present lands: $78 covers a full Signature session, $135 the complete Deep Clean. Soul sells gift certificates through Square, and the gift card page handles it in a couple of minutes. No need to guess a ritual on their behalf — the recipient picks when they book. Certificates come through Square's checkout rather than Fresha, so the gift and the booking stay two separate, painless steps.

Pairs work too. The Lynnwood studio can host 5 to 10 head spa guests at once, so a mother-daughter reset or a two-friend February defrost books as easily as a solo session — call or text (425) 866-1858 and ask for stations together. And guests bringing kids should know minors are welcome with a parent or guardian present.

Plan it

From Edmonds, the Terrace, and Brier

Drive times stay short across the whole southwest corner of the county: Edmonds is about 12 minutes, Mountlake Terrace 10, Brier 10, Shoreline 15, and the Alderwood area is essentially next door at 5. If only a later evening works, the same ritual at the same price runs until 10 PM at our Everett studio, and Mill Creek and Kirkland both take bookings to 9:30 — four studios, four closing times, one menu.

Booking notes: pay cash and every service except the combo packages is $10 less — the Deep Clean drops to $135, the Signature to $78. Arrive 10 minutes early, and give 24 hours' notice to cancel; inside 24 hours is a 50% fee, and a no-call no-show is 100%. Walk-ins are welcome when a station is open. Phones go off or silent inside — the point of the 90 minutes is that they're unreachable ones. Two more policies worth knowing up front: discomfort mid-session means you say so and it stops, without a charge; and refunds come as service credit rather than cash. The full menu — massage, facials, and six combo packages — is worth a scan if you're turning the reset into an afternoon.

Lynnwood FAQ

Good questions, straight answers

How much is a scalp treatment in Lynnwood?
The 90-minute Deep Clean Scalp Head Spa is $135 cash or $145 card at the Lynnwood studio. The 60-minute Signature runs $78 cash or $88 card. Every Soul studio carries the same menu at the same prices, and paying cash saves $10 on any head spa ritual. Gratuity is separate.
How do I book — is it Setmore like the other studios?
No — Lynnwood is the one Soul studio that books through Fresha instead of Setmore. Use the booking buttons on this page, or call or text (425) 866-1858 with the service, how many people, and your preferred time. Walk-ins work too, when a station is open.
When should I book a seasonal reset?
Season changes are the natural moments — after the last beanie month in spring, and again when summer sun and sweat wind down in fall. That's 2 Deep Cleans a year at $135 each. For ongoing maintenance between resets, the standing recommendation is a session every 3 to 4 weeks, usually the $78 Signature.
Is the Lynnwood studio really the same as the others?
Same family, same menu, same prices — Lynnwood is simply the newest of the four studios, opened by the same women-owned business founded in Mill Creek in 2021. The two practical differences: it books through Fresha, and it closes at 9 PM, an earlier close than Mill Creek's 9:30 or Everett's 10.
What's the latest start time for the full 90 minutes?
About 7:30 PM — the studio closes at 9 PM daily, so a 7:30 start lands the complete Deep Clean right at close. A 60-minute Signature can begin as late as 8. If your evening runs later than that, the Everett studio takes 90-minute starts until 8:30 PM.
Can I add a massage or facial the same visit?
Yes, through the combo menu: Combo 4 pairs the 60-minute Signature head spa with a 30-minute facial for $138 cash, and Combo 5 pairs a 60-minute full-body massage with the Signature for $153 cash across 120 minutes. The Deep Clean itself books as a standalone 90-minute ritual.
How far is it from Edmonds or Mountlake Terrace?
About 12 minutes from Edmonds and 10 from Mountlake Terrace. Shoreline is roughly 15, Brier 10, and the Alderwood area sits about 5 minutes out. Parking is at the suite, 3105 Alderwood Mall Blvd #112 — no garage involved, so the drive time is honest.
