Why Kirkland

One Soul studio east of the lake, and it stays open until 9:30

816 6th St S is the only Soul address on the Eastside. Everything else in the family sits up in Snohomish County, which means that for anyone living between Juanita and Bellevue, this is not the closest option so much as the only one without a bridge in front of it. Juanita is roughly five minutes out. Totem Lake is eight. Bellevue, Redmond, Woodinville, and Bothell all land near fifteen, and none of that fifteen involves crossing water at the wrong hour.

The studio runs 10 AM to 9:30 PM daily, which gives an Eastside couple two genuinely usable windows. The weekend morning one is underrated: a 10:30 AM pair of sessions on a Saturday is the easiest two-station booking of the week, because the evening crowd has not woken up yet. The other is the 5:30 or 6 PM slot, and that one exists to be built into a real evening.

Soul opened in Mill Creek in 2021 as a women-owned family business and brought the same four scalp care treatments across the lake unchanged — same Milbon products, same prices, same 60- and 90-minute shapes. More than 15,000 guests have passed through the four studios since. What Kirkland adds is geography, and on the Eastside, geography is most of the argument.

The plan

The order of operations matters more than the reservation does

Most people schedule a spa treatment at the end of an evening, which is backwards for this one. A head spa finishes with a blow-dry — Dyson dryer, Moroccan hair oil, the works — so you come out of the chair looking better than when you sat down. Spend that on a pillow and you have wasted it. Spend it on the rest of your night and the sequence pays for itself.

So: two stations at 5:30, done by 6:30, dinner after that while the light is still good. Nobody is rushing, nobody is damp, and neither of you spent the evening thinking about work, because there is a strange durability to the quiet that comes out of an hour of scalp work. The American Massage Therapy Association's position that massage can support general health and wellness is the closest thing to a formal explanation, and NCCIH's research digest on massage therapy lays out what has and has not been measured. We will leave the claims there.

The version that works in the morning

Weekend mornings run on the same logic in reverse. Book the pair at 10:30, be out by 11:30 with clean hair, and the whole Saturday is still ahead of you rather than behind. From Redmond or Bellevue that is a fifteen-minute reverse commute at the one hour of the week when 405 has no opinion about your plans. It is also the slot with the most reliable two-station availability, which matters when you are trying to sit next to someone.

The hour

Two chairs going at once, and the warm water does the rest

Be clear about the room, because "couples" is a loose word in this industry. Booked as a pair you get a room to yourselves with two head spa stations in it, each with a reclining chair and its own hydrotherapy basin, and the door stays closed for the hour — no curtain, no stranger in the next chair. Both therapists start together, so the timing is shared as well as the room. The version with two massage tables instead of two chairs is the couples massage room, and that is a different reservation entirely.

What both chairs get is identical: a quick consult on water temperature and pressure, a Milbon purifying shampoo cleanse, a detoxifying scalp exfoliation, the head-neck-shoulder massage, a conditioning treatment, the warm hydrotherapy rinse, and the blow-dry that closes every session. Styling and curling are not part of it. Speak up mid-session if the water runs hot or the pressure is wrong — the therapist adjusts, and if it still is not right the session stops and there is no charge.

Choosing between the four rituals

Signature at 60 minutes is the default and the one most pairs book. The three 90-minute rituals each solve something specific: Luxury opens with a 30-minute upper-body massage and gives long, thick hair the time it needs, Chinese Herb brings herbal hydrotherapy and hair steam, and Deep Clean Scalp is built for hair that runs oily or carries a lot of product. Two guests can take two different rituals — the desk just staggers the starts so you finish near each other.

The math

Per guest, no couples rate, and no asterisk anywhere

Head spa at Soul is priced one guest at a time, in Kirkland and everywhere else. Two people booking the 60-minute Signature pay $78 each: $156 cash, $176 on a card. Two of the 90-minute rituals are $135 each, so $270 cash or $290 card. The multiplication is the whole formula. There is no bundle rate hiding on a different menu, and nobody at the desk is authorized to invent one.

The card gap deserves a sentence because it doubles for a pair. Every service outside the combo packages is $10 less in cash, and that discount belongs to each guest, so two head spas paid in cash save $20 rather than $10. Couples massage is one line item rather than two, so it keeps the ordinary $10 spread: the couples massage room shows $150 cash against $160 card. Gratuity sits outside all of it, and with two therapists working you are tipping two people.

So which of the two should you actually book?

On price they are close enough to ignore. Two 60-minute head spas run $156 cash while a 60-minute couples massage runs $150 for both of you, a $6 difference that should not decide anything. What should decide it is whether the evening ends at the studio door or keeps going.

Couples massage is the pick when the hour should be spent face-down on a table with two therapists working two backs. Couples head spa is the pick when the studio is the first stop rather than the last, because clean, dried, oiled hair is a thing you get to carry into dinner. There is a third factor people rarely admit to, which is that undressing at an unfamiliar spa is a real barrier for some partners. A head spa station asks nothing of you but your head, and that makes it the softer introduction. Everything two people can book across the four studios is collected on the couples page.

Book it

Two stations on a Friday need a phone call, not a calendar

Online booking through Setmore reserves one guest. It cannot see that you want the chair next to your partner, and it will cheerfully put you an hour and forty feet apart. So call or text (425) 345-3139 with the ritual, the fact that it is two people, and a target time, and the desk confirms both stations at once. Friday and Saturday evenings are the tightest pair of hours in the Kirkland week — give those a few days of lead time and you will get the slot you wanted rather than the one that was left.

The house rules are the same on the Eastside as everywhere: arrive about ten minutes early, cancel with 24 hours of notice, expect a 50% charge inside that window and the full amount for a no-show. Refunds come back as service credit rather than cash. Square gift certificates cover any combination you like, and $156 is the number for two Signature sessions. Parking, the map, and studio photos are on the Kirkland studio page.

When two becomes eight

Kirkland can seat a group of five to ten for head spa simultaneously, which is the ceiling at every Soul studio. The price stays per person the whole way up — five Signature sessions is 5 x $78, or $390 cash, eight is $624, and ten is $780, with no group rate at any headcount. That is how the bachelorette parties and birthday groups run here, and it is strictly a phone booking: several stations and several therapists have to be blocked as one reservation, which no online calendar will do on its own.

Getting here

The only two-chair booking on your side of the bridge

For couples coming from Bellevue or Redmond, the fifteen-minute drive is the entire pitch — the alternative is 520 or I-90 and a considerably longer evening. Woodinville and Bothell are about the same fifteen. Juanita is five minutes, close enough that regulars from that stretch treat the studio as a neighbourhood option rather than a destination. Totem Lake sits at roughly eight. There is a wider view of what Soul offers across the Eastside if you are weighing the drive against closer alternatives.

If your plans ever pull you north, the other three studios run the same menu at the same prices, and the Lynnwood studio is the easy one to fold into an Alderwood trip. But for two people who live east of the lake, this address is the answer, and $156 cash is the whole cost of testing whether a quiet hour side by side is your kind of evening.

Kirkland FAQ

Good questions, straight answers

How much is a couples head spa in Kirkland?
There is no couples price, so you multiply: the 60-minute Signature is $78 cash per guest, which makes $156 cash or $176 by card for two of you. Two 90-minute rituals are $135 each, $270 cash. The $10 cash discount applies to each person separately, so paying cash saves a pair $20 rather than $10.
Are the two head spa stations in a private room?
Yes. A pair booking puts two head spa stations in a room of your own, each with a reclining chair and its own hydrotherapy basin, and the desk starts both therapists together so you finish together. No treatment room at Soul is shared with another party. Couples massage is the same private room with two tables instead of two chairs, and it carries a two-person price rather than a per-person one.
Is this the only Soul studio on the Eastside?
Yes. Kirkland at 816 6th St S is the only Soul location east of Lake Washington — the other three are in Mill Creek, Everett, and Lynnwood. That makes it the natural booking for Bellevue, Redmond, Woodinville, and Bothell, all roughly 15 minutes out, with Juanita closer to 5 and Totem Lake about 8.
What time should we book if we want dinner afterward?
Around 5:30 PM for a 60-minute pair. That puts you back outside by 6:30 with your hair dried and finished, which leaves a dinner reservation anywhere on the Eastside comfortably ahead of you. The studio stays open until 9:30 PM, so a later start works too — it just turns the session into the end of the evening rather than the beginning.
Can we book two different head spa rituals?
Yes. One of you can take the 60-minute Signature while the other takes one of the 90-minute rituals, and the front desk staggers the start times so the finishes land close together. Mention it when you call (425) 345-3139, since the schedule has to be built around the longer session rather than the shorter one.
Can we bring a group instead of just the two of us?
A group of five to ten can be seated at the same time, and the per-person pricing holds all the way up — five Signature sessions is 5 x $78, or $390 cash, six is $468, and ten is $780, with no group discount. Group bookings go through the front desk by phone or text rather than the online calendar, because multiple stations and therapists have to be reserved as one block.
Do we have to pay in cash to get the discount?
Yes, that is how the menu is structured: every service outside the combo packages is $10 less when paid in cash, and the difference is already printed into the card price. Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are all accepted at the card rate. For a pair of head spas the cash route saves $20, and gratuity for the two therapists sits outside either price.
