A head spa after everything else is done
Most spa hours assume your day ends at six. Everett's don't. The Soul Massage studio at 10315 19th Ave SE, Ste 108 — the Silver Lake end of Everett — takes guests deep into the evening and closes at 10 PM, seven nights a week, the latest close of any Soul location. That one fact changes what a Japanese head spa is for. It stops being a daytime appointment you bend work around and becomes the thing you do after: after the shift, after dinner, after the kids are down.
The math is friendly. A 60-minute Signature started at 8:30 lands you home before eleven; a 90-minute ritual begun at the same hour wraps exactly at close. Ten in the morning to ten at night is a 12-hour window — wide enough that “I couldn't find a time” stops being a real sentence.
It's a schedule built for the people the usual spa day skips: nurses coming off shift, restaurant crews cut loose at nine, parents whose first free hour arrives after bedtime. The studio doesn't ask why you're booking at 8:45. It keeps the water warm until 10, and the ritual fits that hour better than almost anything else still open.
The ritual
What makes it Japanese at 9 PM or 9 AM
The Japanese head spa tradition is built on layering, not intensity. Instead of one aggressive scrub, the sequence stacks gentle stages — a Milbon purifying shampoo cleanse, a detoxifying scalp exfoliation, a head-neck-shoulder massage, a conditioning treatment — and lets warm hydrotherapy water carry each layer away. Milbon itself is a Japanese professional haircare brand, made for salon scalp work rather than retail shelves, and it's on every station here.
Run at night, the same sequence reads differently than it does at noon. Mayo Clinic's guide to relaxation techniques describes the physiology — slower breath, released muscle tension, a nervous system stepping down a gear — and that's a state you'd rather carry into a pillow than into a commute. Guests describe leaving the 9 PM slot already half asleep. We count that as the service working.
Each layer has a job. The purifying shampoo lifts oil and product film. The exfoliant clears what shampoo alone can't — the buildup that settles at the roots after weeks of dry shampoo and styling paste. The massage works scalp, neck, and shoulders while the conditioner sits, and the rinse carries the whole day off under warm moving water. None of it is complicated. All of it is deliberate, which is the part a rushed wash can't fake.
Ritual spotlight
The Chinese Herb ritual, an evening natural
Of the four rituals on the menu, the one that fits the evening frame best is the Chinese Herb Head Spa: 90 minutes, $135 cash. It trades the Signature's neck-and-shoulder focus for head, arm, and hand massage, adds a scalp deep clean and a hair steam, and finishes its hydrotherapy with herbal tea — the menu's own phrase is “to detox waste from the scalp” — before the standard Dyson blow-dry sends you out with dry hair.
The herbal component draws on the same tradition NCCIH surveys in its overview of traditional Chinese medicine — worth ten minutes of reading if you like knowing where a practice comes from before you book it. And to be plain about what we claim: this is a wellness service, designed to deep-cleanse and relax, not a treatment for any condition. The herbal rinse smells like the end of a long day. That's the honest sell, and it's enough.
If herbal isn't your direction, the same 90 minutes and the same $135 buy the Deep Clean Scalp — hair steam plus a second-pass deep clean, aimed at oily and product-heavy scalps — or the Luxury, which opens with a 30-minute upper-body massage before any scalp work begins. The evening slot doesn't care which you pick. It only asks for a 24-hour heads-up if you cancel.
The late shift
How the last hours actually work
The practical questions about late sessions all have short answers.
Booking the late slots
Book online through Setmore, or call or text (425) 948-5868 — for texts, send the service, the number of guests, and the time you're hoping for, and the desk confirms. Working backward from the 10 PM close: 8:30 PM is the practical latest start for a 90-minute ritual, and a 60-minute Signature stretches later still. The 120-minute massage-plus-head-spa combo ($153 cash) wants the 8 PM start, so book that one ahead rather than walking in.
Walk-ins after dinner
Walk-ins are welcome any hour the studio is open, evenings included — you take the next open station. If a call goes unanswered, text instead. Booked guests should arrive about 10 minutes ahead; late arrivals shorten the session, because the 10 PM close is real and the last rinse doesn't move.
Two of you, or ten
Rooms here are private — a couple gets one with two tables and nobody else in it — and group sessions run from 5 to 10 guests at once with advance booking. An evening group is very bookable. It just needs one call to (425) 948-5868 rather than a stack of separate online slots, so adjacent stations can be held together. Head spa stays priced per person either way: eight friends at the Signature rate is $624 in cash, ten is $780.
Also in Everett
The studio's other life after the rinse
Everett is also the Soul studio with the deepest massage bench — the location guests choose for clinical and therapeutic massage, including car-accident recovery work billed through personal injury protection (PIP). Regular services aren't billed to insurance, but PIP clinical massage is a standing Everett specialty. Which means an evening can hold both: the combo menu pairs a 60-minute full-body massage with a Signature head spa for $153 cash, 120 minutes booked back-to-back. Deep-tissue guests get the honest warning as well — some next-day soreness after firm pressure work is normal, which is one reason the gentle half of the evening goes last.
Drive times keep the evening honest. Mukilteo, Marysville, Snohomish, and Mill Creek are each about 15 minutes out; Lake Stevens is closer to 20. If your side of the corridor points the other way, the original Mill Creek studio opens earlier — 9:30 AM — but nobody in the family stays open later than this one.
Book it
Claim an evening on the calendar
Pricing is identical across all four studios — Signature $78 cash, any 90-minute ritual $135, $10 more by card on every service but the combos — and gratuity isn't included. Give 24 hours' notice to cancel; inside that window a 50% fee applies, and a no-show costs the full price. First time at a head spa anywhere? The head spa benefits guide covers what the ritual does and doesn't do, in plain language, before you spend a dollar.
Regulars turn the late slot into a standing one — the recommended cadence is every 3 to 4 weeks, and booking the next session on the way out beats trying to remember later. Gift certificates run through Square if you're handing the evening to someone else. Payment is cash-preferred, which is where the $10 saving lives, with Visa, Mastercard, and Discover accepted; tips are customary and appreciated.
The last appointment of the day shouldn't feel like the last errand of the day.
