Why Lynnwood
Book it for 3 PM, when the day has already gone sideways
Three in the afternoon is when an Alderwood day turns. You started strong around eleven, ate somewhere in the middle, and now there are bags in the trunk and a low-grade argument brewing about whether one more store is reasonable. Soul's Lynnwood studio sits at 3105 Alderwood Mall Blvd #112, on the strip you are already driving. Two chairs, sixty minutes, $78 each. It is the single best thing available on that street, and it does not come in a bag.
This is the newest of the four Soul studios and it inherited the whole menu unchanged: the same four Milbon rituals, the same 60- and 90-minute shapes, the same prices printed at the other three addresses. Doors open at 10 AM and close at 9 PM, which is the earliest close in the family, so treat 8 PM as the last workable start for a pair of 60-minute sessions. Mid-afternoon on a weekday is the easiest two-station slot here by a wide margin.
What Lynnwood does not have is the pretense that this needs to be an occasion. Nobody at the desk asks why you are here. The couples who book two chairs on a Wednesday at three are, more often than not, just two people who have been running errands since eleven and decided to stop being productive for an hour. Across all four studios Soul has served more than 15,000 guests since 2021, and a solid share of them made that exact decision.
Who books it
Two people, and nobody at the desk asks how you know each other
The industry calls it a couples head spa. The studio just calls it two guests booked side by side, which is closer to the truth of who actually walks in. Sisters visiting for a weekend. Two friends who have been meaning to do this since March. A mother and her grown daughter, halfway through a shopping day, who wanted an hour where neither of them was carrying anything. Minors are welcome at Soul with a parent or guardian present, and since a pair booking puts both stations in the same closed room, that condition takes care of itself.
Nothing about the service changes based on the pairing. Two chairs, two therapists, one shared start time. You do not have to hold hands or say anything meaningful to each other. Mostly you will not talk at all after the first ten minutes, which regulars describe as the surprising part — it is not awkward, it is just what happens once someone's hands are working the base of your skull. Mayo Clinic Health System's plain description of massage and everyday stress is about as close as any institution gets to explaining that.
If it is a first spa visit for one of you
Head spa is the gentlest entry point on the menu, mechanically speaking. You stay dressed. You stay upright in a reclining chair. There is a short consult about pressure and water temperature, then the therapist works and you do nothing. NCCIH's short list of things to know about massage therapy covers the sensible questions a first-timer usually has. The one Soul rule worth memorizing: if anything feels off during the session, say so out loud. It gets adjusted, and if it still is not right the session stops with no charge.
The hour
What sixty minutes in the chair actually contains
Two stations, side by side, in a room with the door shut. That is how every treatment at this studio runs, because a room is never handed to two parties at once — the only people in there are the two of you and the two therapists. Each station has its own reclining chair and hydrotherapy basin, and a pair booking starts both therapists at the same moment. The version with two massage tables instead of two chairs is the couples massage room, a different booking at a different price.
Then the sequence runs: consult, Milbon purifying shampoo cleanse, detoxifying scalp exfoliation, head-neck-shoulder massage, conditioning treatment, warm hydrotherapy rinse, and a blow-dry with a Dyson dryer and Moroccan hair oil to close. Styling and curling are not part of the service, so you will not come out with a set, but you will come out dry and smoother than you went in. If either of you has hair past chest-length that is also thick, book the 90-minute Luxury for that guest instead — the Signature hour has to hurry through hair that dense. Most regulars settle into a rhythm of every three to four weeks.
The math
These are per-person prices, so bring a calculator, not a coupon
Soul does not sell a couples head spa. It sells head spas, and two of you can book them at the same time. That is not a technicality, it is the pricing structure: $78 cash for the 60-minute Signature per guest, which makes $156 cash for two or $176 on a card. The 90-minute rituals are $135 cash each, so $270 for a pair. Nothing gets bundled, discounted, or renamed if you book two at once.
Cash is the only saving that exists here, and it belongs to each guest — $10 off per person, so $20 across the two of you. Gratuity is customary and never included, and with two therapists working you are tipping two people rather than one. If you want the actual two-person price on the menu, that is the couples massage: $150 cash covers both of you for 60 minutes because it is one private room with two tables and two therapists inside it. Every other pairing option is laid out on the couples page.
| What you book | Length | Each | Two guests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Signature Head Spa | 60 min | $78 | $156 |
| Deep Clean Scalp Head Spa | 90 min | $135 | $270 |
| Combo 4 — Signature head spa + 30-min facial | 90 min | $138 | $276 |
| Combo 5 — 60-min massage + Signature head spa | 120 min | $153 | $306 |
Book it
Lynnwood books through Fresha, but two chairs still want a phone call
One quirk to know before you start clicking. This studio runs its online booking through Fresha rather than Setmore like the other three Soul locations, so the flow looks different once you tap through, even though the button still says Book Now. For a solo session that is fine. For two people it is the wrong tool, because no online calendar will guarantee you the chair next to your partner. Call (425) 866-1858, say the ritual, say two guests, give a target time, and the desk reserves both stations as one booking.
The standard rules apply and they are worth respecting on a two-person reservation: arrive about ten minutes early, cancel with at least 24 hours of notice, and expect a 50% charge inside that window or the full amount for a no-show. Refunds come back as service credit rather than cash. Square gift certificates work at all four studios and make an easy present when you cannot pin down a date — $156 is the figure that covers two Signature sessions at cash pricing. The map, hours, and parking notes are on the Lynnwood studio page, and the full head spa menu spells out what each ritual includes.
More than two of you
Lynnwood can seat a group of five to ten head spa guests at the same time, and the arithmetic does not change with headcount: five guests taking the Signature is 5 x $78, or $390 cash, six is $468, and ten is $780. There is no group rate to negotiate. What there is instead is scheduling — several stations and therapists blocked together, which is why group bookings go through the phone rather than the app, and why a Saturday party needs a few days of notice rather than a few hours.
Getting here
Twelve minutes from Edmonds, ten from Mountlake Terrace
Alderwood Mall Blvd puts the studio in reach of the whole southwest corner of Snohomish County. Edmonds runs about 12 minutes, Mountlake Terrace and Brier around 10, Shoreline closer to 15. Because the studio sits on a strip you are probably already driving for other reasons, the two-person booking tends to attach itself to a trip that was happening anyway, which is a large part of why afternoons here fill with pairs rather than solos.
A few useful alternates when Lynnwood does not fit. The Mill Creek studio opens at 9:30 AM, a half hour earlier than here, and works better for a morning session. Everett stays open until 10 PM if your evening runs late. And for a specific occasion rather than a Wednesday, the Mother's Day planning notes cover how the two-chair booking works when it needs to land on one particular date. Prices and rituals are identical whichever address you choose.
The best thing you can buy on Alderwood Mall Blvd does not come in a bag.
